Associate Professor Biology and Academic Programs Director, STEM

I received my PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Oklahoma in 2018, where I studied how new species form using damselflies as a model system. (Damselflies are essentially thinner, cuter versions of dragonflies.) After that, I taught at Oklahoma City Community College and conducted postdoctoral research with the Oklahoma Biological Survey. I am originally from Colorado, where I received a BS in psychology from Colorado State University and a BS in biology from Metropolitan State University of Denver. I love spending time outdoors: road biking, mountain biking, swimming, gardening, and hiking with my rescue pit bull, Bruce. As an evolutionary biologist and nature lover, I enjoy teaching introductory biology and helping students appreciate the living world that we benefit from and contribute to. My role as an instructor is not simply to provide information, but to help students develop the skills to find and evaluate information on their own.
