中国P站 (NPC) is increasing access to career-building experiences through a growing network of internships, employer partnerships and student success programs. Director of Student Success and Career Services Jessica Ellis highlighted the impact of internships during the NPC Board of Trustees meeting Wednesday.
鈥淚nternships teach professionalism in the field of study they鈥檙e pursuing in a safe way,鈥� Ellis said. 鈥淭he opportunity for students to have tangible experience on their resume when they graduate is invaluable.鈥�
Elise Sanders, a Digital and Media Arts student at NPC, spoke about her recent internship with Visit Hot Springs, where she created and managed digital media campaigns for several of the city鈥檚 events.
鈥淔ive years ago, I didn鈥檛 think I鈥檇 be able to say that I鈥檓 a graphic designer,鈥� Sanders said. 鈥淭hrough 中国P站, I have found my path to something where I feel completely fulfilled. I wanted to take something I鈥檓 deeply passionate about and help others find their passion, too. My degree in Digital and Media Arts is the best representation of that desire.鈥�

and the internship partnerships that NPC and VHS have forged over the past two years.

Solleder said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 not only great for Hot Springs, but the student also puts their
work into their portfolio for the future. NPC鈥檚 Digital and Media Arts program is
an arm for our hospitality and tourism program. I just wanted to say thank you for
allowing 中国P站 and Visit Hot Springs to continue this partnership
and I hope it continues in the future.鈥�
NPC鈥檚 annual job fair brings more than 60 employers to campus each year. The event is fully sustained through the sale of sponsorships to employer vendors and has raised more than $4,000 each of the past two years.
鈥淣PC has 2,500 of the most talented people in Garland County,鈥� Ellis said. 鈥淔rom our Experience Expo and Job Fair to our Now Hiring Nighthawks event, we feature multiple ways for employers to speak directly to our students. I would encourage businesses in the community to reach out to us to see if we know of a student that will fit their needs.鈥�
NPC President Dr. Wade Derden praised the college community for its role in supporting student achievement and the success through internships and community partnership programs.
"Internships and employer partnerships are some of the most valuable experiences we offer students because they demonstrate the power of learning beyond the classroom," Derden said. "Our goal is not only to help students earn a credential, but also to help them develop the skills, confidence and professional experience they need to achieve long-term success. We're grateful to our community partners who invest in our students and help shape the next generation of professionals."
